Way back at the beginning of summer (which seems like last week), I asked my kiddos to make lists of all they wanted to do this summer. We achieved most of those items. On my daughter’s list was a sock monkey project I’d seen as a free project from Lark crafts.
It took us awhile to find just the perfect wacky socks, but we finished up the sock monkeys just in time for school to start tomorrow.
I know, they’re crazy. They get even zanier when the girls dress them up in princess outfits. Originally, I had just planned to make three of these, one for each of my girls. My oldest son is a bit too old for sock monkeys. But then the baby saw the monkeys in progress and started making monkey noises, which we took to mean he wanted one too. So the loud purple and green one with sewn on eyes instead of felt or buttons is his.
The pattern was excellently written and very easy to follow. I think it only took me about two hours each to make these. What a fun farewell to summer.
Now I’m off to wrap my brain around the idea of school routines, and homework, and probably some quilting thrown in to preserve my sanity
