“Attention Exhibitors. International Quilt Market 2013 is now open for business.” I can’t describe how cool it was to hear those words over the loudspeaker from inside the market hall. My husband and I had the opportunity to attend Market with the Pattern Peddlers, and it was an incredible experience. I took my camera so I could bring home inspiration from all the fantastic booths, and the camera never even made it out of the case. Fortunately, the awesome team at the Fat Quarter Shop was not as starstruck as me, and you can see their market recap photos here.
I came home with a bagful of inspiration, and will be sharing each of these in individual blog posts soon.
But the best part of Market was the people. We sought out Marti Michell’s booth immediately to show her my new patterns with her templates. I couldn’t believe she remembered us from our brief conversation at last year’s Festival, but she did– and she even asked about the kids. Such an amazing and gracious lady!! We also got to meet book authors, pattern distributors, and fellow designers. Kristy and Shayla Wolf and The Sweet Tea Girls were some of my favorite designers to meet in person.
Since I got home, I’ve been sketching designs and jotting down ideas like crazy. We’re already planning for our own booth in a couple of years. And now that all my new fall designs are finished, I’m cleaning up my studio and playing with some new designs.
If you’re looking for some inspiration too, I’m extending the sale on my new patterns on Craftsy for a couple more days. And join me on Quilting Gallery this weekend where I’ll be guest judging! *Ed. note– I was a week off, I’ll be judging NEXT weekend. But still, head over there this weekend too and see all the cute Halloween projects!*
