Where Did Spring Break Go?

Not sure if it flew with the time change, or lack of routines, but this week went by way too fast for me!  I don’t think the older two kiddos are ready to head back to school yet, either.  But it was a fun week.  The weather was gorgeous, and we enjoyed visits from grandparents on both sides of the family.  Plus plenty of time for video games and sewing.  I pieced a third of the Tumbling Snowflakes quilt.

I’m so excited to finally see the snowflakes coming together.  Aside from one night when I sewed two rows together backwards, this quilt has been a dream to piece.  Sewing the straight seams by machine goes really quickly, and hand piecing the rows gives me more control to make sure points line up exactly.  I’m hoping this baby doesn’t come too early, so I have time to finish the top before our world goes to newborn schedule.

While my mom was here, we also hit the quilt store to pick out background fabric for my sister’s double wedding ring quilt.  The fabrics on top will go into the arcs, and the smoky blue will be the background.  I love Shadow Play fabrics.  Not only are they gorgeous, they’re also incredibly soft and silky feeling.  Now I can’t wait to get started on the quilt.  Even if it is king sized. . .. yikes!

And finally, a good friend send me a link about Rose Star quilts.   Oh, dear.  Because we all know I need a new obsession.  I love the way those kites go together.  Paper Pieces has a great coloring page  with the kites (scroll down to the bottom for the kite layout).  So I’ve been playing with coloring sheets and colored pencils. This quilt pattern is so versatile.  I can totally see it in the Poppy Love fabrics I just received.  I feel a new pattern coming on.

How was your Spring Break?  I’d love to hear about your latest crafty adventures!

Happy Stitching!
